Heartline-Pregnancy-CenterWARSAW — In times of crisis, it is good to know somebody is there to offer support.

Heartline Pregnancy Center Inc. offers free pregnancy testing and free ultrasound services for anyone who believes they may be facing an unplanned pregnancy. The Heartline website also lists the following services:

  • Adoption information
  • Abortion information
  • Pregnancy and parenting support
  • Community resource information
  • Car seat inspections and fittings
  • Baby supplies through the BABE Boutique
  • Childcare and preschool information
  • Post-abortion support
  • Sexually transmitted infection testing and education
  • Sexual integrity education

Those who think they may need help with an unplanned pregnancy can contact Heartline at (574) 267-5110. Help is also available outside of regular Heartline office hours. Heartline’s office is closed until the first Monday in January, but can still be reached via phone.

“Any time that anyone calls and we’re not open, we have our phone forwarded to an 800 number hotline,” Director Amy Rosswurm said. “They can call and schedule an appointment.”

Providing all of this, however, requires help from the community. Besides monetary donations, volunteers are also needed.

“We’re always in need of volunteers who want to come and clean,” Rosswurm said. “And then we could also use some more volunteers who want to hep volunteer at our events.”

In addition, the BABE store, through which Heartline provides baby necessities, often needs items for new parents and parents-to-be. Though winter has arrived, Rosswurm noted that the need is there year-round, not just when the weather is bad.

“We always need diapers and formula for the BABE store. Those are big needs and that’s all year round. We don’t really see it fluctuate,” she said.

Founded in 1985, Heartline Pregnancy Center celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. According to Rosswurm, in 2015 alone Heartline served more than 5,500 clients in the local community.
